Start with the scope

Check whether a notice covers the website, the client or account services. The published website policy explains information processing related to website visits and contact. It does not by itself establish how every VPN client handles traffic, which protocols are implemented or what all third parties collect.

Read each data category

Review the sections about access records, browser or device information, details you choose to send and cookies. Consider the purpose and context separately for each category. Not having to enter a particular detail does not mean a website processes no access information.

Follow third-party notices

App stores, download hosts and payment services can apply their own policies. The website notice does not replace those rules. Ask the operator about the applicable process if you need a precise answer about retention or deletion.
